- 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish, ensuring a smooth surface for easy removal.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined; this aerates the mixture for better rise.
- Beat the egg whites in a clean bowl until soft peaks form, then gradually add half of the granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
- In another bowl, beat the egg yolks with the remaining sugar until pale and fluffy; then stir in the milk and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the yolk mixture until just combined; then carefully fold in the beaten egg whites in thirds to maintain lightness.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean; let cool on a wire rack for about thirty minutes.
- In a large bowl, whisk together evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract until smooth; set aside.
- Poke holes all over the cooled cake using a fork or skewer and slowly drizzle the soaking mixture evenly over it; cover tightly and refrigerate overnight.
- Before serving, whip heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and additional vanilla extract until soft peaks form; spread generously over the soaked cake.
- Top with sliced strawberries for a beautiful finish and enjoy!
