- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 8 oz semisweet or bittersweet chocolate
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Sprinkles or chocolate curls (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your pans by greasing them well.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, sour cream, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and beef broth until smooth.
- Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry mix until just combined; some small lumps are perfectly fine.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for about 35–40 minutes.
- Once baked, let the cakes cool completely before frosting.
