Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup white sugar
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup confectioners’ sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round pan with butter, then dust it with flour to prevent sticking.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes until pale in color.
- Add the eggs one at a time to the creamed mixture, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract for added depth.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add this dry mixture into the wet ingredients alternating with the milk until combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth out the top; bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
